Social media is growing and it is growing fast. Facebook is one of the biggest websites, Twitter is worth more than 1 billion dollar and new weblogs, communities and discussion boards go live almost every day.
Do you have to include social media in your B2B marketing activities?
There are people that say social media is a hype, used by youngsters only. And if has any use for marketing then for B2C only. For B2B they advise you to concentrate on the more traditional activities. May be they are right, maybe they are not.
Do you know what? Your are not the one to decide. It’s your customers that decide whether you are participating in the social media. Because there is a big change also your customers are present on Facebook or Twitter and they might well be talking about you. And it does not have to be postive all the time.
So you have no choice. You have to make the social media part of your marketing strategy.
The good news however is you don’t have to go the full monty right a way. You can just start with monitoring the web. Try to find the discussions where the topic is your company or your product. Join the discussion and give the right answers or take action.
