Should B2B marketing forget about Google?

We all want to be number one in Google’s organic search results. And we all know there is not enough room at the top for all of us. Therefore we all spend a lot of time, energy and money in an attempt to get as high as possible. While at the same time Google keeps on changing the rules.

Of course you can use Google Adwords. But also in this case you are not the only one trying to be number one.  As a result you are constantly raising your CPC’s and your budget. Also read my post What you pay for Google Adwords depends on your competitor.

There is an alternative

There is an alternative. Concentrate on your existing customers and let them spread the word for you. And you know what? It is relatively easy! There are only four things you need to have or do.

  • Good contents
You need to have good contents. But if you have a website, you should already have good contents available.

  • Different channels
Make your contents available through different channels. Not only on your website, but also through other channels like a weblog, Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter and others.

  • The right format
If you want your customers to send your content to their colleagues and friends, your content should be in the right format. Files that are not too big and that can easily be transferred to others.

  • Make it easy
When good contents is available in the right format, the last step should be made as easy as possible. Try to avoid people have to register to get the information and provide buttons for easy sharing information in social networks.

And you know what? People trust friends and colleagues more than they trust you or the Google search results. So forget about Google and start spreading the word the alternative way.
