A couple of days a go I read a post in which somebody warned about putting social media buttons on your website. These buttons are leading visitors away from your website, while you should try to keep them there.
No Problem
There is no problem at all with putting social buttons on your website. Because people will land on your social media pages. They can find all the interesting information that you have put there and they are able to interact with you and with your other customers. What is wrong with that?
I would go one step further. Use you website as a warehouse for your product information, documentation, manuals and whatever else you have available for your customers. And use your pages on the social platforms as homepage, showcase, bulletin board and as the place where you meet with your customers and where your customers meet their peers.
If you dare
If you really dare, you can even take two steps and forget about your website altogether.
Use Facebook as your homepage or showcase and create a group on Linkedin for discussions. Twitter can be your bulletin board and you can put all your product information on Scribd, your videos on YouTube and your photo’s on Flickr.
Easy to configure. Easy to maintain. Free of charge.
Or did I miss something?
