Thanks Mitch,
Retweeting is a way of content curation. Although a lot of people tweet/retweet about a lot of different topics. That makes it difficult again to find the information you are looking for.
And I am not sure yet about whether it is better to tweet or retweet. I think a direct tweet - reading a blogpost and then hit the tweet button - does more right to the creator of the content.
However, what we really need is people that are prepared to focus on and write about (or gather information about) very specific subjects. This may be a thankless task, because the more specific the information/subject is, the smaller the audience will be.

It's interesting that you're talking about content curation in the manner you are. This past week myself and a host of other people have been talking about the concept of retweeting blog posts (which is how I found this one) and whether it means anything if the person passing the information along either doesn't write a comment on the post, doesn't give a quick opinion about the link they're sharing, or even go to the post they're retweeting, which seems to be more common than I had realized.

In its way it's a different type of content curation than what you're mentioning because some people start to rely on those folks on Twitter to point them to information that might be relevant to something they want to learn about, while others might retweet so often and to stuff that has no real value that people start ignoring them, which by extension means one's content starts getting ignored as well.

Of course I also agree with your assessment of how difficult it can be finding information on search engines, which is why I consider myself a power user, having 100 results come up per page instead of the 10 that most people use.

My favourite topic! It may be a good idea to ask Michael about the results and how he thinks these have possibly been influenced by doing it like this.

Great example of the ONLY way to do it - after all it's about mind share. Michael's mind (aka content and ideas) any your sharing!

Also, what good is an email address to me, if you've passed the content to your boss and she's the one with the need and the budget?

Regards, Colm

You are right, Jonathan. Use all the channels available to stir the pot! Then interact with your audience and if they think you are credible and interesting enough, they will spread the word for you.
But that means we should stop asking the search engines to find the information we are looking for and start asking the people we are connected with in our communities on social media platforms.

It's all about creating valuable/quality content. You need to stir the pot by using various channels i.e. - social media, email, blogs etc. It will help create interactions with your core audience!

Thanks for your comment Janet,
You are right. If you are prepared to really dig into good content - and make it available for others - there is a big chance you will become a powerful influencer. Therefore the answer (to Steven) was yes!
Later this week I hope to write a post about retweeting. So watch this space.

Atsomepointafteryoureach say, 500 connections and 20 RSS feeds to read curation becomes a necessity for sanity. At first that statement seems off-topic, but in reality it isn't.
Those who really spend time digging for good content (on Google and elsewhere) soon begin to curate for themselves and in this way become powerful influencers for the best reasons.
On the other hand, those who simply re-post without filtering are making more noise and it's so random the value is significanly less.

Hans,
It seems like there's also an in-page embedded version, which makes the functionality available to anyone visiting your site - even without the extension or using an unsupported browser. It appears to provide a stats service so that you can see what sort of contextual topics people are browsing whilst reading your content.
