Always more

February 18, 2010

Today I did some shopping at IKEA, the Swedish home products retailer. And as always I came home with more than I had gone out for to buy.

Although there are a few shortcuts, there is only one walking route through the store. Forcing you to go past all the products IKEA sells. In this case seeing is often buying. Resulting in a full shopping cart when you checkout.

Your website does not have to be as large as an IKEA store. And of course good usability does not allow you to force your visitors to go through all pages on your site.

But you must make sure your visitors always leave your website with more than they expected to get when they arrived.
